Roman silver-plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Titus (AD 79-81), dating to c. AD 80-1 (Reece Period 4). Prototype Mint of Rome. RIC II.1, p. 206, cf. no. 112. The obverse of the coin has been slashed to reveal the base-metal core and the reverse of the coin has discolouration showing the base metal core. Obverse: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN P M; Laureate head right Reverse: [TR P IX IMP XV COS VIII P P]; Dolphin coiled around anchor The coin measures: 17.75mm in length, 18.55mm in width, 1.91mm thick and weighs 2.7 grams.

An incomplete fragment from a cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill type of Roman date (AD 80-120). The wings, axis bar, spring and pin, lower bow, foot and catchplate are all lost. All that remains is a heavily rolled head and upper bow. On the reverse of the head is a oval depression which would have been filled with a sticky paste to hold the spring in place. An incomplete fragment from a cast copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The brooch has lost both it's head and also foot to old abraded breaks. What remains of the bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. At the mid-point of the bow is a thickened heavily abraded band which has a drilled circular cup for decorative enamel. The exterior edge / spine is decorated with raised square shaped pellets. The surfaces and cores are orange-red in colour. The tiles have occasional white quartz inclusions, and are micacous.
