The coin has been folded (obverse facing outwards) and is worn and damaged in palces making full identification of the coin difficult. The obverse inscription ending FRAnC DNS hYB is typical of the rare issues of the Third Coinage but is also listed, with variations, on some Series G coins in Woodhead (1996), e.g. pl. 5 nos 41-2.

Description: A complete cast gold finger ring dating to the Medieval period (AD 1150-1350). The bezel has a flat circular face with the letters 'IHC' in Lombardic script across the centre with an arch above and a trefoil below. Traces of what may be enamel survive in areas of the engraved background. The body of the bezel is in the shape of an inverted cone with a round-pointed base, which is undecorated. Description: An incomplete Post Medieval gold finger ring probably of the later 1600s.
The bezel of the ring is rectangular in shape with short sides forming a shallow hollow cup in which the missing gem would have sat. All the sides of the bezel bow outwards and have inwardly tapering upper edges that are crescentic in shape and have rounded lips. Description: A complete gold Post Medieval posy ring of the 16th to 17th century (c. AD 1500-1700). The band of the ring is D-shape in cross-section. The outer face is decorated with moulded decoration in the form of chevrons aligned on the central axis of the band covering the entire surface. The chevrons are inlaid with alternating black and white enamel, most of which is fragmentary.
