A Roman cast copper alloy pin head or terminal fitting in the shape of a three dimensional naturalistically modelled standing hound set in profile upon a plinth. Part of the pin, which is heavily corroded, extends from the middle of the dog's body and through the base of the plinth, ending in a corroded ancient fracture. The figure is finely modelled, the features of the dog's face are lightly engraved and it has a green patina. It has a slightly irregular shape in plan with an angled butt and a slight flare on the bottom of the blade, whereas the top edge of the blade only broadens out slightly. One face has more of a bevel from the blade edge than the opposite, which is flatter. It is sub-rectangular in profile, coming to a gentle apex at the blade end. The break occurs through the aperture of the central block, which would have held the suspension loop which is missing. A copper alloy double looped buckle frame with oval shaped loops and a narrowed strap bar that has rounded knops at either end. The central bar has a deposit of corroded iron that maybe the remains of the pin. The front of the buckle loops are D shaped in cross section and flat on the reverse. An incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative, hinged brooch. The brooch has an even pale green patina, it is T shaped in plan and comma shaped in profile. A single ridge runs down the centre of the bow, the lower part of which is missing. The wings are short and semi circular in cross section There is a cylindrical notch between the wings, where the top of the hinged pin would have been located. The catch plate, foot knop and pin are missing. Dimensions: Height 25mm, width 21 mm, weight 4g.
