An incomplete copper-alloy candle holder of a post-medieval date, c. AD 1550 - 1600. The object comprises of a hollow circular socket and a solid circular stem. The edges at opening to the socket are jagged and uneven suggesting an old breakage. One side of the holder has a dent which may have come from the movemnet of the object while in the ground. The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The candle holder is 63.5mm long, the socket is 24.7mm in diameterand and the stem is 26.3mm in length and 11.3mm thick. It weighs 64.26g. A cast lead spindle whorl of an unknown date. The whorl is circular in shape and the top and bottom surfaces are flattened. Through the centre is a circle hole measuring 8.7mm in diameter. There is no visible decoration on the surface. The whorl has several breakages on one side. The way in which the breaks have occurred suggests that there would have been a high content of tin mixed into the lead before the whorl was cast. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative developed T-shaped brooch dating to c. AD 50 - 150. It is missing its lower bow, catchplate and pin. The wing span measures at 34mm. There is no sign of decoration on the wings. The is a large transverse slot cut on the underside of the head of the bow. Now corroded and damage, the pin would have previously been located there. The remains of a headloop projects 5.5mm from the top of the brooch. Only the base of the loop survives and you can see the bottom of the loop where the projection curves slightly. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy large south-westernt T-shaped brooch of Hull T138, dating to c. AD 50 - 150. It is missing its lower bow, catchplate and pin. At the head of the bow is the remains of a headloop that projects 7.9mm from the centre between the two wings. The wing span measures 22.5mm. On one of the wings there is evidence of decoration visible, with two vertical lines located at the end of the wing. A fragment of a Roman copper alloy brooch, probably a Colchester derivative type, dating to c. AD 50 - 150. The fragment comprises of the lower bow, foot and catchplate of the brooch. The bow is rectangular in cross section and tapers into a pointed foot with a very small footknob. Decoration in the form of grooves run along the both edges of the bow meeting at the foot. Just below the break there is the remains of a a second pair of grooves meeting at a V shape. The wings are heavily corroded with one half of the spring mechanism missing. They are C-shaped in cross section and the remains of the spring mechanism sits within this, four coils are evident.
