A copper alloy Roman sestertius of the emperor Nerva (AD 96-98), Reece period 5, LIBERTAS PVBLICA S C reverse type depicting Libertas standing facing left holding her right arm out in front of her with a triangular object in her right hand which could be a pileus or brimless pointed felt cap. The obverse bears the head of the emperor facing right with a long neck, a strongly hooked nose and two ribbons streaming from behind his head. Roman copper alloy sestertius, extremely corroded, identified by its size (29 mm in diameter) and the size of the head. Imperial sestertii were issued from the beginning of the Empire to about AD 270 (Reece and James, 2000, p.17). The legends are illegible, and the surfaces worn and missing but on the obverse the head appears to be facing right. In the 2nd century, sestertii are often seen to have one or more straight sides and this coin is round, which probably makes it earlier rather than later, c.AD 81-138.

The coin is very worn and has been heavily cleaned, so no details of the legends can be seen. Cf. RIC Vol.III, p.162, no.1117; BMC Vol. IV, p.242, pl.36, fig.4, no.1513.

Roman copper alloy sestertius, possibly of Commodus (AD 175-192), Reece period 8, very corroded and pitted but there is a head facing right with tight curls, distinctive eye and long beard on the obverse, and a standing central figure with a vertical spear to the left on the reverse, which may be Mars standing right holding a vertical spear in his right hand, as in the reference below. Cf. BMC IV, p.688, pl.90, fig.13, no.1736 which is Commodus under Marcus Aurelius (AD 175-180) Found on the same day with CORN-DA90CC.

Unclear reverse type depictng a standing female figure left, possibly holding a crown, although the attributes in left hand are unclear. Mint of Rome. The initial record for this coin suggests the figure is holding a parazonium in left hand, in which case this could be a rare example of the SCYTHIA, S C type from Antoninus' crown series, cf.
