A small assemblage of ceramic sherds (2) dating to the later Roman period, c. 100-350 AD. Both pieces are body sherds of Nene Valley colour coated ware, demonstrating orange internal fabrics covered with black slip. One of the sherds demonstrates rouletted 'feathered' decoration on its outer face, the other being undecorated. Both quite weathered and much of the slip eroded away. Combined weight: 11.45g.

The internal fabric is a whitish buff colour, solidly fired with no trace of inclusions.On both the inner and outer surfaces, the remains of an applied black slip are visible. Preserved in heavily abraded condition, it measures 43.22mm long down its longest axis, 9.85mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 23.17g.

A large ceramic sherd originating from a wheel-thrown mortarium (NVMO) of Nene Valley origin, dating c. 100-400 AD. Only around 2/3 of the base and angled lower body of the vessel survive, the rest missing in old breaks. It demonstrates an off greyish white hard fabric demonstrating numerous black silicated iron slag inclusions on its inner face as is characteristic for this ware form. Demonstrating a high-fired bright orange fabric, the fragment is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and 'L' shaped in profile, it survives to a length of 127.62mm, 64mm wide at its widest point, and 46.51mm thick at the midpoint of its raised outer edge.
