An incomplete copper ally Roman figurine of Mercury, dating to the period AD 43- 402.
The figurine is incomplete, with most of his limbs intact, with exception to a singular hand and two feet. The head is appropriately sized for body proportions, the hair is depicted as incised waved grooves. Covering the rest of the skull is a winged cap. This is decorated with vertical lines and grooves. The eyes are visible as small indents, and the nose is defined with two vertical grooves, both at a diagonal angle. The brow ridge is enhanced by a horizontal line, just above the eyes. The jaw line is much defined. The neck and shoulders are enhanced by smooth curves which follow the contours of a body well. The torso has evidence of horizontal lines. This defines the breast bones and chest muscles. There is also the fainted evidence of nipples, however these are well worn and well patiniated. For the arms, both or intact at the shoulder joint. The left arm is bent outwards with a smooth curve. The hand is visible, almost like a silhouette and so is a money bag, but fingers and carpel bones are not defined. For the right arm it is forward facing, and is bent at an obtuse angle at the elbow joint. The hand follows the same silhouette principle, with no defined carpel bones. The groin area is enhanced with two diagonal grooves, and between these are visible male genitalia. Both legs are broken half way down the tibia (shin bone). The left is straight and forward facing with a raised area as a knee. The right leg is also facing forward, but is bent at the knee joint. Both of these breaks are old. The reverse of the figurine has also has faded grooves and lines for muscle definition. The buttocks are also well defined.
The figurine is a mid-green to brown colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in the loss of the majority of surface detail.
Overall, the height is 71.67mm, the width (shoulder to shoulder) is 35.82mm, the thickness is 10.40mm and the diameter of the head is 10.35mm. The figurine weighs 48.85g.

A complete tinned copper alloy one piece early post medieval toggle clasp, dating to the period AD 1500-1650.
This is type 1 of an unclassified toggle clasp group. The plate consists of an open work and moulded design of one central circular perforation. The top horizontal edge of the object is decorated with a series of transverse lines, giving a rope like effect. Two iron rivets which are heavily corroded, but still in place are located above and below the open work design. The longer edges of the plate are not straight but almost reflect a foliage design. The edges has deep cusps, and trefoil and bifurcate knops. Beneath the open work plate there is an undecorated toggle bar, which is raised to the rest of the object. This would originally been utilised as a clasp (Read 2008 p108). There is also evidence of gilded silver on the plate.
The height of the object is 42.97, the width is 14.91, the thickness is 5.03mm and the weight is 7.17g

A complete copper alloy piece post medieval hook, dating to the period AD 1600-1700.
The plate is trifoliate in design with a circular and lozenge shape apertures, and a projecting bifurcate collar at the juncture of the plate. The plate consists of decorative open work shapes, two circles at the top, and an irregular lozenge shape beneath. On the top aperture, and below the open lozenge, there are rivets, both of which are manufactured of iron. This is evident due to them both being heavily corroded. The hook is blunt, and remains integral to the plate. Attached to the hook is a separate suspended pendant ring.
The height of the object is 41.26mm, the width is 15.94mm and the weight is 3.87g.

The plate is formed from a rectangular sheet of copper-alloy which has been folded in upon itself. There ia recess for the pin. The plate have five perforations which would have held 5 rivets, holding both sheets of copper alloy in place. Three of of these five rivets are still intact, the rest are either completely missing or partially damaged. The plate is bent and is further damaged by having the posterior sheet of metal partially missing. The buckle frame would have been originally attached to the plate by the two wrapped projections.
The length of the buckle plate is 42.23mm in length, 14.13mm in width and 5.18mm thickness. The weight is 5.58g.

The circulation in London, from finds along the Thames foreshore, is restricted to the general period from the 1480s to the 1550s. But the design of the figure of Venus is modelled on official jetons of Philip le Beau, or Philip I of Castile (1478-1506) from the 1490s (Mitchener 1988).
