A post medieval copper alloy button of the Bridgewater Volunteers Miltia. The buttons type is a cast one piece with an integral undrilled shank. The button is a flat, discoiled shape and is rather small (diameter 15.44mm, width 1.34 and weight, 1.94).
The design of the front surface are black and gold colours, black being the background, with gold detail. A copper alloy unidentified object of uncertain date, possuibly dating from the Roman to the post-medieval period.
The object is cyclydrical in shape, one end is narrower than the other, and has a brown-green pantina.
From the wider end, (14.08mm), the cross section is circular, and there are 5 circular resses, layed out to form a circle shape. The centre of the tip has the remnants of a iron projection. A medieval copper alloy one piece strap end, possibly dating to AD 1200-1400. The split tip has a circular perforation with a surviving circular rivet, the strap end is 6.15mm wide at this point. The strap end has a knopped circular terminal (8.15mm wide and 6.2mm thick) with a flattened base.
The strap end is 20.65mm in length, 8.15mm wide and weighs 3.06 grams.
