A complete copper alloy medieval hook, dating to the period AD c.1200- 1400.
At the top is a large conical stop from the base of which protrudes a long D-sectioned integral hook which curves forward at the tip. The stop is thicker than the hook and has a sub-circular cross-section. It is shallowly faceted, and tapers to a zoomorphic terminal. The animal head has moulded snout-like nose and jaws, the mouth being open, and long angles ears at the sides. The eyes are indicated by low angled brows.
