A copper alloy gilded medieval or post-medieval buckle plate, dating to period AD 1400- 1700.
The plate is formed from a rectangular sheet of copper-alloy which has been folded in upon itself. There ia recess for the pin. The plate have five perforations which would have held 5 rivets, holding both sheets of copper alloy in place. Three of of these five rivets are still intact, the rest are either completely missing or partially damaged. An incomplete copper alloy medieval single loop buckle dating to the period ADc.1350-1450.
As well as being D in shape, the loop of the buckle is D shape in cross section, with bevelled edges and a knop on the far edge. The pin is complete. The buckle plate is formed of a sheet of copper-alloy which has been wrapped around the pin bar with a recess to hold the pin. This sheet has one rivet, which is located at the distal end of the sheet and can be clearly seen through both sheets of copper alloy. To the reverse the sheet is narrower and shorter.

A complete copper alloy medieval to post medieval double loop buckle dating to the period AD 1350- AD 1650.
The buckles frame creates oval shaped hoops which are D shaped in cross section. It remains undecorated on both sides. The pin is attached to the central strap bar by being wrapped around. The edges of the frame are bevelled, and there is a break point on the left corner, closest to the strap bar.
The height is 22.03mm, width is 35.97mm, thickness is 6.11mm and it weighs 8.06g.

An incomplete copper alloy buckle post-medieval dating to the period AD c.1500-1600
The buckle is rectangular in shape with a curved frame, making he central strap bar offset and set back from the frame. The bars which are either side of the strap bar are decorated with four rabbets. These rabbets are decorated with transverse lines and grooves, giving a brick like effect. Om each end of the central strap bar are bifid knops.
The height of the buckle is 34.62mm, the width is 25.80mm and the weight is 20.47g.

An incomplete copper-alloy medieval annular buckle dating to AD 1400 - 1500.
The buckle has its central bar, but the pin is missing. It is circular in shape, with a sub-rectangular cross-section. It is rather smooth in texture and holds a green patina with black marks that may be traces of black lacquer.
The buckle is rather small, coming 21.74mm in diameter, 2.40mm thick and weighs 3.02g.
Whitehead (2003) "Buckles 1250-1800" illustrates a very similar buckle p46 no269. This would have been a waist or sword belt buckle.

The buckle measures 12.17mm in length, 15.65mm in width and weighs 2.02g. It is broadly rectangular in shape, with ornate outer edges and the frame thicker on the left hand side (5.44mm) than the right (2.21mm). The "fishtail" tapers outwards from the frame to 16.61mm in length, before curving inwards slightly on itself. A complete cast copper-alloy medieval to post medieval single looped buckle, dating to the period AD c.1250 to c.1400. The buckle measures 33.06mm in length, 21.22 in width and weighs 5.19g. It is D-shaped, the pin and central bar intact. The pin appears to be lighter green in colour, in contrast to the main body of the buckle which is a dark green. After wrapping around the central bar, there is a ridge, connecting the ring and the rest of the pin. It measures 4.19mm wide at this point, tapering to 2.18mm at the end.

An incomplete single loop copper-alloy buckle dating to AD 1250-1400. Only the incomplete loop survives.
The outer edge of the buckle expands towards the pin rest and terimates with two projecting circular knops flanking the recess to hold the pin. The loop is decorated with triangular punches. The punches are a series of straight and transverse lines. Two triangle shapes on the center of the plate are created with this design.
The height of the bucke is 27.83mm and the width is 1.67mm.The buckle weighs 1.67g.

The frame of the buckle does not taper, and stays the same width and thickness. The pin does move freely 180 degrees from the buckle and its attachment. The entire buckle remains undecorated, but the frame uniquely dips itself inwards at the back and then protruded outwards to create the pin bar. Overall, the object has a complete single loop buckle frame, the pin is missing and the plate is incomplete. The frame is lipped, narrows its edge at the top, and is decorated with two prominent knops flanking five fine grooves. This is located on the narrowed top edge of the frame. The pin bar is narrowed and recessed.

An incomplete medieval cast single looped buckle, dating to the broad period AD 1250- AD 1400.
The buckle is oval in shape and in cross section, with ornate edges. Components including the pin, plate and rivet holes are missing. The buckle is also broken into two parts, but are present, and roughly fit together. The ornate design is located on the band where the pin would sit once fastened. There are two lobed knops, which flank out a notchal lip. From an anterioal view, a raised central ridge lays, and is the highest point of the ornate design.

The buckle is D shaped and sub circular in cross section. The band of the buckle where the pin would have originally been attached is straight, but then gradually bends into a D shape. At the bend, the band gradually widens. The buckle is a simple design and has no decoration.

A medieval copper alloy integral plate spur buckle dating to AD 1250-1500.
The buckle has an oval shape frame with a notch at the central top point and also with a rectangular section attached to it. There are four diagonal grooves two on each frame band all following the same direction.The edges of this buckle are all smooth. The pin is missing.
The rectangular section of the buckle remains undecorated and has two circular perforations, the rivets are missing.
A good comparison of this buckle can be found in "Buckles" (2003) Ross Whitehead page 33 No.186.
