Object type: COIN WEIGHT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A copper-alloy medieval circular half noble coin weight, dating between the 15th and 16 centuries.
The obverse portrays an image of a ship, and the reverse surface appears to have 4 scratch marks upon it.
Similar examples to this coin weight can be seen in Withers (1995) "Lions, Ships and Angels" , bottom of page 18.
It could be possible that this object could be a noble with a ship with lis and Lion, (top of page 19) however, the coin weight is damaged rather significantly.

Object type: HARNESS PENDANT

County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A medieval copper alloy harness pendant with an offset suspension loop. The pendant is a Type 5 with open work, with a cross which has bifurcated ends. Nick Griffiths (1986) comments that poorer quality manufacturing of pendants (including heraldic types) suggests that they were not made for dispay on horses for the nobility. It is more likely they were used by trappings, for the horses of retainers, bail…
