An incomplete copper alloy gilded pin of an uncertain date. A broadly similar parallel can be found in Egan and Pritchard (1991) "Dress Accessories" page 300 No,1476 which suggests a medieval date is possible. Overall, the pin is badly corroded, but the head of the pin can be surely identified as a pentagonal head with five points, four of which form the sides of the shape, and the fifth located at the top of the head. From each of the four side points are fine ridges which follow upwards, towards the central point at the top of the shape. Where the head of the pin has been fixed …
