These objects were probably tokens or tallies issued to farm workers, in a similar fashion to early modern hop tokens. They could also be a form of advertisement, a poor-man's version of 17/18th century trade tokens.

An incomplete cast copper alloy strap fitting/strap union dating to the Late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 100 BC- 100 AD. The strap union has three circular rings joined at the central point to form a triangular formation. Only one ring is complete. On one side is a vertical strap bar. It is unclear how the opposing strap bar would have situated, if indeed there was one at all. Figure-of-eight strap unions are well documented. Incomplete late Roman copper alloy strap end, c. AD 350-409. The strap end has two incomplete lozenge-shaped plates separated by a transverse neck with rectangular projections. No decoration is evident. There appears to be a rivet thought on of the plate - presumably to aid attachment to a strap, or possibly a repair. The strap end fits into a class of object associated with a late Roman date, often with military connections.
