A copper-alloy post-medieval trade token, dating to the period AD 1648-1672. Obverse depicts the mercers' arms, with the legend reading WALTER CHAPMAN. On the reverse there are three letters on two rows (C, with a dot either side, underneath which is WA), which are encircled by a ring, and a legend which reads; IN BATHE MERCER

A post medieval token of possibly Thomas Chapman of Walkern, Hertfordshire, dated 1667; Williamson no. 199 (1967, p. 328). The token's surfaces are very worn and corroded. The reverse legend is illegible, but the obverse appears to read THOMAS CO[...]. However no parallel with a 'grocer's arms' obverse appears in Williamson for the surrounding counties. It measures 13.58mm in diameter, 0.49mm thick and weighs 0.31g.

A post medieval copper alloy farthing traders' token issued by the City of Bristol and dated AD 1652-1662 (but probably AD 1652). Obverse legend A BRISTOLL FARTHING depicting a circular border with CB (for Civitas Bristol) above [ ]2. Reverse legend THE ARMES OF BRISTOLL depicting within a circular border a port broadside partial view of a three-masted ship under sail and a fort (Bristol's coat-of-arms). Cf Williamson G C (1889), Boyne's Trade Tokens, Vol 1 Elliot Stock, London (later B A Seaby edition 1967) - see Gloucestershire, p 241, No.12.
