An incomplete Roman iron miniature spear, dating to the period AD 330-410. What remains is the spear and the shaft, measuring 196.22mm in length and weighs 31.51g in total. The miniature spear appears to be broadly circular in cross-section, but this is unclear as heavy corrosion obscures much of the original shape. Small stones have also become attached to the corrosion, obscuring the shape further. At the widest part, the spear measures 12.06mm wide and 14.09mm thick. A fragment of a copper-alloy Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, dating to the period 1100 BC- 800 BC. All that remains of this axehead is the cutting edge, blade tip and part of the blade. It is possibly a Penard/Wilburton type, though exact categorisation is difficult as only a small portion of the axehead remains. The fragment measures 30.15mm in length and 35.63mm at maximum width on the cutting edge, before tapering down to 29.22mm on the blade. What remains of the axehead is triangular in cross-section. Five, probably type 4, medieval horseshoes and four spikes, possibly for the removal of horseshoes, dating to the period AD 1250-1550. Only one horseshoe may have a nail in situ, but otherwise the horseshoes are complete. It is unlikely that these were from the same horse, not just because there are five, but due to the different sizes and weights of each shoe. Clark's "The Medieval Horse and its Equipment" (1995) indicates that horses were not always shod on all four feet (p76), but on two instead. An early-medieval stirrup-strap mount, dating to the period AD 1040-1100. It is a Williams Class A, Type 4, and is triangular in shape, measuring 55.23mm in length and 29.49mm at maximum width. The folding clasp is 36.20mm in length and 11.41mm in width, and appears to be comprised of two folded sheets of metal, held together by a well concealed rivet. The sheet roller is missing. This is a sub rectangular folding clasp, 25.35mm from the edge of the plate to the bar of the clasp.
