An incomplete Roman iron miniature spear, dating to the period AD 330-410. What remains is the spear and the shaft, measuring 196.22mm in length and weighs 31.51g in total. The miniature spear appears to be broadly circular in cross-section, but this is unclear as heavy corrosion obscures much of the original shape. Small stones have also become attached to the corrosion, obscuring the shape further. At the widest part, the spear measures 12.06mm wide and 14.09mm thick. Minerva walking right with spear and shield, with S to her left and C to her right. roRobert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. A fragment of a copper-alloy bust of the goddess Minerva from the handle of a spatula, dating to the period AD 100-250. The Minerva is Feugère's Type A5. Of the bust, only the head and part of the neck remains. By length, it measures 32.36mm, with a width of 12.67mm and a thickness of 12.67mm. It weighs 23.75g. The bust of Minerva wears a high crested Corinthian helmet. The crest has a central groove which from which it bifurcates (with deep triangular grooves cut into the edge of each ridge) and gives way to a third central rib as it widens. An incomplete asymmetrical Roman plate brooch, dating to the period AD 100-250. It is incomplete insofar as the pin is missing, part of the catchplate has broken and one of the knops has partially broken off. The brooch measures 39.02mm in length and 24.74mm at maximum width. Behind the catchplate is a trefoil protrusion, a small central triangle with an oval area to either side: at the centre of each of this is a stamped ring-and-dot.
