A complete (five pieces) copper-alloy post-medieval traveller's writing set, dating to the period AD 1800-1900. It consists of an etui (case), the lid, the inkwell/base, the pen and a possible quill/unidentified organic material. The lid is cylindrical and hollow, measuring 22.79mm in length, 13.79mm in width, and weighs 3.92g. At the top there is a moulded ridge, and two concentric bands, parallel to one another, beneath it. The faint outline of the three crowns, alternately with three lis, arranged centrifugally around a central rose can be seen. On the reverse, there is an imperial orb surmounted by a cross patty, within a tressure with three main arches. Both legends are illegible, and there is a small chip missing from the circumference of the jetton, and part of the jetton has been bent inwards on the reverse.

On one side, there appears to be a standing figure facing left, and part of the legend or inscription reading "C W S". The inscription on the other face is difficult to discern. The patina is smooth, and a mid-grey in colour. In total, the bag seal weighs 5.88g.

It is rectangular in shape, measuring 63.15mm in length, 18.98mm wide (except where it tapers slightly inwards at the middle to a width of 14.93mm) and 1.37mm in thickness, except at the rivet which is 7.39mm in thickness. At the top of the fragment there are two holes, and a further one just above the rivet, which measure approximately 5.5mm in diameter, the edges of which are uneven and have no evidence of once containing rivets. The frame is bevelled on the inside, and measures 30.23mm in length and 25.88mm in width. The outer frame measures 4.34mm in thickness, whilst the narrowed strap bar from which the now missing pin would have been attached measures 2.49mm in thickness.
