An incomplete copper-alloy Roman nummus of Magnentius (AD 350-353), dating to the period c.AD 350-353 (Reece period 18). Obverse: [D N MAGNENTIV]S P F AVG. Reverse: VICTORIAE DD NN AVG ET CAE reverse type depicting two Victories holding a shield with VOT V MVLT X. Unclear mint.
This coin has been deliberately cut with a minimum of three cut down coins being removed from the flan. Such examples are probably cut due to the edict of 354 by Constantius II and Julian outlawing pecunia maiorina and large module coins.
