An incomplete copper-alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 5, Western Group, flat wing ends), Mackreth 2011, 5.b4.Plate 50, dating to the period AD 50-150. It is incomplete insofar as the pin has broken after 22.88mm length. The brooch measures 39.83mm in length and 16.72mm at maximum wingspan. The coil at the reverse of the brooch has a break in it, which may be sign of repair and reuse. The pin which extends from the coil has been broken. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Hod Hill type brooch with side lugs (now missing), dating to the period AD 43-70. The brooch is broadly triangular in shape, measuring 33.11mm in length and 13.81mm at its widest. It weighs 2.59g. It is missing the head and most of the upper bow, as well as the pin and mechanism. The bow expands directly below a short projection of upper bow (terminating in a worn, old break) into a rectangular plate which would have had a side lug on either end.
