A fragment of a early medieval copper-alloy strap end, dating to the period 750-950. The strap end is of Thomas' Class B, Type 4 with zoomorphic terminal and multi-headed decoration. The strap end is sub-triangular in shape with a zoomorphic terminal beyond a trio of transverse grooves. The terminal is in the form of a forward facing animal head with prominent rounded eyes, snub snout and drilled nostrils. An incomplete buckle frame of probably late early-medieval to early medieval date (c. 1000-1200). It is triangular in shape consisting of two outside edges and the bar. Extensions of the frame either side of the bar, now terminating in old breaks, suggest these originally extended, perhaps into another loop of similar shape. The frame is oval in cross-section with the addition of a ridge at the centre of the two outside edges. This is moulded into a row of single knops with worn grooves between.
