A complete (five pieces) copper-alloy post-medieval traveller's writing set, dating to the period AD 1800-1900. It consists of an etui (case), the lid, the inkwell/base, the pen and a possible quill/unidentified organic material.
The lid is cylindrical and hollow, measuring 22.79mm in length, 13.79mm in width, and weighs 3.92g. At the top there is a moulded ridge, and two concentric bands, parallel to one another, beneath it. At the very base of the lid are two further concentric bands. It is dark brown in colour.

It is difficult to see due to how the coin has been bent, but it appears that the obverse type shows a Lion of Saint Mark standing left, nimbate and winged. The tail is raised and the lion is holding a Book of Gospels in raised right fore-paw. On the reverse, there is an imperial orb surmounted by a cross patty, within a tressure with three main arches. Legends are illegible on both sides.

An early-medieval stirrup-strap mount, dating to the period AD 1040-1100. It is a Williams Class A, Type 4, and is triangular in shape, measuring 55.23mm in length and 29.49mm at maximum width.
The mount has rivet hole at its apex, and two further rivet holes at the base, one either side. The mount has an oval body, which is framed by a pair of ribbon-form beasts whose tails curl into spirals, flanking the pointed lobe above the apex rivet. The obverse depicts a very worn bust facing, bordered by pellets and rosettes, whilst the reverse depicts a long cross patonce, rosette-pellet clusters in each angle, again bordered by pellets and rosettes. It is probably an Edward I, class X, probably nos. 105-106, p99 of Mitchener. There is a small central piercing, measuring 1.81mm in diameter.

It measures 24.63mm in length and 13.31mm at maximum width, though this starts at the rounded knop at 5.79mm and tapers to a base of 9.62mm. The knop is rounded and has a collar at the base, before it extends to an oval frame. At the base there are two knops, one either side, of a constricted bar. The patina is smooth, dark green in colour, and has is no further decoration on the back of the strap slide. In total, the strap slide weighs 2.70g.

The pin is attached by curling around the central bar, with a small recess opposite it in which the point rests. In total, the pin measures 21.82mm in length and 4.26mm and maximum width, before it tapers to a point. The patina is rough, and is mid-green in colour.

It is incomplete insofar as only approximately half of the upper body and the lower body extending to (but not including) the foot survives. All that remains measures 55.19mm in length, 26.36mm in width, 6.52mm thick for the upper body and 7.92mm for the lower body, tapering to a point after 37.13mm. There is a distinctive split in this tubular lower body, in which the now missing pin would have been contained.

What could possibly be a third rivet hole, measuring approximately 7.8mm in diameter, is approximately halfway in between them. In total, this fragment measures 59.76mm in length, 21.29mm wide and 1.34mm in thickness except at the rivets, which are 8.79mm thick. The fragment weighs 10.82g and has a rough patina, being light green in colour with patches of brown.

A copper-alloy object, possibly a Jetton, of an uncertain ruler and date. On the obverse, the legend reads [cross] DENIER AD IV, encircling a forward facing bust, wearing a cap. The innermost circle is comprised of evenly spaced and broadly oval notches, and measures 15.84mm in diameter. The obverse has similarities to the bust of nos. 161-162, but the legends are different. On the reverse, there is no discernible decoration. The legend and lack of direct parallels could indicate that this is a coin.

A cast copper-alloy medieval spherical sword pommel, dating to the period AD 1100-1400. The pommel is spherical, with two broadly square openings, the smaller on top measuring 7.45mm width and length, and the larger at the base measuring 11.14mm in length and 9.34mm in width. The top of the handle/tang would have fitted through these openings. It is 17.74mm in height, 24.38mm wide and weighs 13.36g. An incomplete copper-alloy medieval single looped buckle, dating to the period AD 1250-1400. It is incomplete insofar as the pin is missing and the outer frame has broken off. What remains of the buckle indicates a broadly circular shape, thin outer frame measuring 2.24mm in thickness and a diameter of 25.58mm. An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval double looped buckle, dating to the period AD 1550-1650. It is incomplete insofar as the pin is missing. The buckle is broadly circular in shape, measuring 36.95mm in width and 34.83mm in length, with an off centre, curved central bar. A complete copper-alloy medieval English Jetton, dating to the period AD 1280-1343. Both obverse and reverse have a short cross moline, two pellets in each quadrant, one central and one on the peripheral. The rim is beaded, and contains pellets around the outside. There is a small cut on the jetton, from rim to one of the peripheral pellets.

A complete copper-alloy Roman Penannular brooch, dating to the period AD 43 - 410. It is circular, measuring 52.02mm in diameter and has a thickness of 5.25mm. An incomplete copper-alloy zoomorphic Roman plate-brooch, dating to the period AD 100-200. It depicts a water bird, possibly a duck, with a long beak, body and head projecting from a flat base which concealed the pin and catchplate. It is incomplete insofar as the pin is missing. The head of the bird has a long, tubular beak, measuring 2.93mm in width and 13.21mm in length, and as with the rest of the brooch appears to be undecorated. However, the patina of the brooch is quite shiny, possibly indicating tinning. The neck curves back into the narrow body, measuring 8.52mm wide.
