A complete half of a cast copper-alloy two-piece medieval swivel fitting, dating to the period c.1100-1500. This half of the swivel fitting is the 'female' half of the swivel fitting, and has a D-shaped frame. The frame measures 27.76mm in height and is 23.28mm in width. The frame of the loop measures 1.72mm in thickness, widening to zoomorphic terminals measuring 4.55mm thick. These terminal decorations have a prominent brow-ridge and hold in place between them a broadly circular attachment loop, where the 'male' fitting would have been inserted. An incomplete copper-alloy medieval bar-mount, dating to the period 1270-1400. The bar mount measures 24.44mm in length and 14.17mm in width with a maximum thickness of 9.02mm. It weighs 1.51g. It is incomplete as both rivets are missing, although oxidisation in one of the terminal lobes indicates the presence of an iron rivet. The two terminal lobes are solid and domed to the front with a central rivet hole. The central lobe has a slight hollowing to the reverse and is domed to the front, decorated with five transverse grooves. The majority of similarly decorated bar mounts with c…

A complete half of a cast copper alloy two-piece medieval swivel fitting, dating to c. 1100-1500. It measures 19.65mm in height and 21.57mm in max. width. This half of the swivel fitting is the 'female' half and has a D-shaped frame. The frame is 2.4mm thick. From the straight edge a circular plate (11.5mm in diameter x 2.4mm thick) extends at 90 degrees to the frame. This has a central circular perforation, with a diameter of 5mm. On swivel fittings such as these, zoomorphic mouldings are often seen either side of the circular perforation, but there is no evidence of such mouldings h…

A copper-alloy gilt openwork probable strap fitting, dating to c.1000-1200. Measuring 28.4mm in length, 17.7mm in width and 2.5mm in thickness, the strap fitting comprises two openwork sections. The first is a D-shaped plate on its back with a fleur de lys extending upwards and to either side, to touch the curving edges of the 'D'. The lis has grooved decoration, a curving line on each outer leaf and an oval shape at the centre of the upright. Below the straight edge are three knops with grooved decoration, perhaps a shorter, squashed fleur-de-lis. Beyond the curved edge is a further…

A complete copper-alloy strap-fitting possibly relating to a medieval sword-belt hook, dating to c.AD 1300- 1500. The broadly U-shaped object has a rectangular perforation, measuring 15.07mm in length and 6.93mm in width. There is a smaller, circular perforation beneath it, which measures 4.45mm in diameter. This then curves to an open circle 8.64mm in diameter, which tapers to 2.56mm, opening out again to 4.79mm until there is a lip, which is 4.03mm in diameter. On the outside of the loop, there appears to be decorative diagonal incised grooves from halfway down the circle to the …
