A copper alloy casket key dating to the period AD c. 1250-1450. The key measures 64.92mm in length, 16.42mm at maximum width and is 2.05mm thick. At the top, there is a broadly circular perforation, measuring 6.66mm in diameter. The key tapers to 6.85mm, where there is a rectangular protrusion at 10.15mm wide and 16.42mm in length. This then tapers to an end 2.83mm in diameter. At roughly the centre, the key has been bent upwards. It weighs 9.78g.
This key has been recorded in Read, B "Metal Artefacts in Antiquity" (2001), no.543.
