An incomplete copper-alloy Roman zoomorphic plate brooch, dating to the period AD 100-250. It depicts the front portion of a hare or possibly a dog advancing right. The measurements are 27.43mm in length, 18.79mm in width and 10.68mm in thickness. It weighs 1.85g in total. The hind legs and rump are missing, and the ear and snout have signs of damage. There are traces of enamel, off white and dark blue, in the cells within the body. All breaks are old.
Closely comparable with Hattatt (2000), fig.221, no. 1189-1190.
