An incomplete Roman Crossbow brooch, dating to the period c. AD 290-400. It is incomplete insofar as only approximately half of the upper body and the lower body extending to (but not including) the foot survives. All that remains measures 55.19mm in length, 26.36mm in width, 6.52mm thick for the upper body and 7.92mm for the lower body, tapering to a point after 37.13mm. There is a distinctive split in this tubular lower body, in which the now missing pin would have been contained. An incomplete copper-alloy Late Iron Age to early Roman brooch of the Langton Down (Nertomarus) type, dating to the period AD 25-60. An incomplete Roman Hod Hill brooch, dating to the period AD 43-70. It is incomplete insofar as it is missing its pin and mechanism. The bow is triangular in shape, measuring 56.05mm in length and 21.98mm at maximum width. What remains of the head is starting to curve round, but the pin and accompanying mechanism have since broken. The head measures 6.69mm in length, and tapers outwards to the side lugs, which are the widest part of the brooch. A complete copper-alloy Roman Wroxeter type brooch, dating to the period AD 75-200. The brooch measures 65.16mm in length and at maximum width is 15.36mm. Starting from the headloop, which is complete and 5.15mm in diameter, there are two ridges which curve down from the headloop and curl upwards towards the headloop. They are 13.23mm wide. The pin's loop is in the form of a hollow cylindrical or drum-shaped element, presumably cast as one with the shaft. A fragment of a copper-alloy Iron Age brooch probably of La Tenè I type, dating to the period 400-200 BC. All that remains of the brooch is the pin, which has a dark brown patina. There is a small notch at the top of the pin, measuring 2.45mm in length and 2.83mm in width. It reveals a lighter brown recess. Opposite to this there is an incised line, which extends 24.6mm the length of the pin. In total the pin measures 45.48mm in length, 2.83mm in width and tapering down to a point. It weighs 1.48g.
