An early-medieval stirrup-strap mount, dating to the period AD 1040-1100. It is a Williams Class A, Type 4, and is triangular in shape, measuring 55.23mm in length and 29.49mm at maximum width.
The mount has rivet hole at its apex, and two further rivet holes at the base, one either side. The mount has an oval body, which is framed by a pair of ribbon-form beasts whose tails curl into spirals, flanking the pointed lobe above the apex rivet. A complete, late early-medieval copper-alloy zoomorphic stirrup strap mount, dating to the period AD 1000-1100. It is Williams Class A, Type 1 and sub-pentagonal in shape, measuring 47.66mm in length and 32.01mm at maximum width. The thickness of the stirrup mount is 4.33mm at the iron rivet, with the main body of the stirrup mount being 2.53mm. The decoration on the mount is of two addorsed beasts joined by a central knot beneath the pendant lobe, which is seen here with an iron rivet, remaining in situ.
