A complete copper alloy zoomorphic mount, stud or strap fitting of probable medieval to post medieval dating circa (AD 1200 to 1500). The object is in the shape of an animal head, perhaps a fox, wolf or bear and is broadly circular on the body. The front face of the mount is convex and the rear is flat. The front of the mount comprises two triangular projecting ears that extend beyond the upper edge of the mount. The eyes are rounded. The face then tapers to a pointed protruding nose. There is moulded decoration on the outer edge forming four lobes and three transverse ridges. The strap bar is missing. The pin is also missing. The buckle has green coloured surface patina.
