A Roman copper alloy Polden hill brooch, probably dating to AD 80-120. The brooch is largely complete, missing only its sprung pin. Transverse, semi-cylindrical wings project from the head of the brooch, these are open at the reverse and closed by perforated wing caps at either end. An incomplete central crest extends over the top of the head of the brooch, and is also continuous with a central logitudinal ridge that runs along the arris of the bow. The expansion at 12 o'clock is recessed at its centre to accommodate a lost pin, however the other three expansions are offset from the two axes. Description: A Medieval silver annular brooch. The brooch is symmetrical along its longitudinal axis, divided by a constriction for the pin at one side and a narrow elliptical boss at the other end. The brooch is now incomplete, but originally probably consisted of a lozengiform frame with a relatively large circular lobe in each angle, decorated with a recessed ring-and-dot pattern. A Roman copper alloy knee brooch, dating to AD 150-300. The brooch has a sub-oval head-plate from the reverse of which expands a pair of perforated lugs, an axis bar and sprung pin have been lost. The bow of the brooch folls out of the head with a plano-convex cross section, with a broadly S-shaped profile. The bow is undecorated and expands into a pad-like foot.
