A complete copper alloy pilgrim's badge dating to the medieval period (AD 1400 - AD 1500). The badge is of openwork design and decorated with relief moulding. The central figure is stood facing and possibly naked, with their hands bound behind them and arrows protruding from their legs. The bow is thick and trapezoidal in cross-section, and has no decoration. The apex of the bow is highly arched creating the characteristic 'knee' shape. Only half of the head of the brooch has survived, and consists of three coils which would have been wrapped around the axis bar. The remaining coils and the pin are missing. A complete copper alloy mount dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43 - 410). The lower half of the mount is pelta or crescent-shaped, with curved tips. The central section of the crescent extends upwards and also terminates in curved tips, this creates 'C' shaped openwork on each side. The reverse is flat and has two large rivets, one on top of the other. The metal is very worn and mid green in colour. The strap fitting is 18.5 mm long, 18.2 mm wide and 5.2 mm thick. It weighs 2.5 g.
