A complete medieval copper alloy buckle with composite plate. The buckle frame is oval in shape, with the outer edge widening and forming a triangular point in the centre. The outer edges of the frame are bevelled, and the frame is triangular in cross section. The forked spacer is covered by a rectangular copper alloy sheet folded over. This measures 13.1mm by 14.4mm. It has a central notch close to the pin bar for the pin to sit in. At the attachment end there is rectangular recess with iron corrosion in. The buckle frame is trapeziodal shaped, the outer edge is recessed slightly from the frame and measures 20.1mm in width, the plate bar is narrower at 17.1mm. An incomplete medieval or post-medieval copper alloy double loop annular buckle, missing its pin. The buckle is decorated with moulded scalloping around the outer edge which is c.4.4mm wide. The moulded decoration resembles five flower petals. The central pin bar is narrower at 1.9mm and is sub triangular in cross section. The buckle has a brown green patina. The buckle measures 27.3mm in length, 24.8mm in width, and is 2.2mm thick. The buckle weighs 4.11g. The buckle is similar to Whitehead 1996, p.39 nos. 272 and 273, which he dates from c.1450-1550.

A medieval copper alloy buckle plate. The plate consists of a rectangular sheet of metal, folded widthways to attach to the buckle. The fold on the reverse of the plate is approximately half the length of the plate, measuring 12.3mm in length. A central rectangular slot has been cut out on both sides for the attachment. There is iron staining within this slot suggesting the buckle pin was made of iron. At the opposite end on the longer plate there is a rivet hole with the iron rivet still in situ. The plate consists of a rectangular sheet of metal which would have folded over at one short aned to curl around the buckle; the plate is now broken along this edge. The patina is smooth and shiny and a light green colour. The buckle measures in 19.9mm length, and 17.4mm in width. It is 2.5mm thick and weighs 1.9g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy probably Post Medieval buckle, c. 1550-1650. The frame has a slightly thicker outer edge and incised decoration, missing its pin. Overall the buckle measures 34mm long, 28.21mm wide and 2.23mm thick. The internal measurement of a loop is 21.07mm long and 9.64mm wide. The frame is D shaped in cross section and has bevelled edges. On both loops the outer edges there are three traverse grooves where the pin would have sat. The buckle is similar in style and decoration to one illustrated in Whitehead 2001 (p. 54, no. 302).

An incomplete post-medieval (1550-1650) copper alloy double-oval buckle frame, missing one of its loops. Iron staining on the strap bar suggests that the pin, which is now missing, was made of iron. The bar extends beyond the edges of the frame in pointed lobes. All original patina is missing but traces of diagonal grooves are apparent on the outside edge of the frame.
