A complete lead pencil or writing lead. The shaft is cylindrical and tapers to a blunt point at one end. The are raised ridges along its length and the end is pierced with a hole. It conforms to Biddle's Class I, which he dates to the 9th to 11th centuries. Length 52mm, diameter 6mm, weight 14.98g.

Complete copper-alloy late Medieval buckle frame. The buckle is a single loop, D-shaped buckle with decorative knop extending from the curved edge. The knop has a single narrow collar and is flat on the reverse side. The strap bar is recesses and the pin is missing. Several similar examples are illustrated in the Meols report (Griffiths et al. 2007, 94, no.622ff). Length 21mm, width 14mm, thickness 2mm, weight 1.6g.

Copper-alloy Post-Medieval knife handle terminal stop from a scale-tang knife. It is in the form of two outward facing animal heads (probably dogs). The snouts are pointed with a groove for the mouth. Above these are rounded heads with dots for eyes. A circumferential groove encircles the base. Iron corrosion product covers the base. Read (2001, 88, no.655) suggests a16th century date. There are several similar examples on the database including SOM-471CD5, HAMP-728F85 and IOW-765F43. Length 15mm, width 16mm, thickness 8mm, weight 7.61g.

A fragment of a sheet copper alloy Medieval or Post-Medieval strainer or skimmer. It is pierced with closely placed circular holes. Part of a curved outer edge survives suggesting that it had a fairly small diameter originally and was probably part of a handled skimmer. It has a fine green patina. Egan (1998, 155) suggests that skimmers were used from the 14th century into the early Post-Medieval period. Length: 27.0mm, width: 16.0mm, weight: 0.96g

Iron age/ Early Roman copper alloy button and loop fastener. The fragment consists of only the loop which is triangular in plan and rectangular in section with rounded edges and a large triangular perforation. At the narrow end the rectangular sectioned shaft turns 90o where it has snapped off. This would have joined the button part of the object. The surface is smooth and has a mid greyish-green patina. Similar to YORYM-65FB92. Length 23mm, width 15mm, thickness 3mm, weight 3.62g.

An incomplete Roman enamelled copper alloy umbonate plate brooch. The brooch is sub circular in form and is domed (convex) in cross section. The object consists of a domed boss with three surviving projecting knops arranged at cardinal points. It is decorated with two concentric circles of triangular enamelled cells, arranged around a central circular cell. Roman copper alloy T shaped (developed) brooch. The object consists of circular sectioned, solid wings with a central recess to hold a hinged pin (now missing). The bow has a raised edge on its upper portion, which merges into a flat edge half way down its length. There is a centrally placed scar on the bows surface, which suggests it had a ridge running as far as the raised edges. Roman copper alloy headstud brooch.The object has damaged open wings which are now triangular in form, with a centrally placed loop above. The bow is sub-rectangular in section and is plain at the top. At its centre, where it curves, it has a raised circular protrusion and below this there are two rows of triangular enamel cells flanking two centrally placed rectangular ones.
