Roman copper-alloy bow brooch. The brooch consists of a semi-circular cross sectioned bow which is curved and tapering. The brooch is missing most of its wings, spring and pin. The triangular, incomplete, catch plate c. 20mm long, sits close the base of the bow. The surface is corroded. Length 59mm, width 4mm, weight 9.5grams.

Roman copper-alloy penannular brooch. The brooch is circular in form but slightly distorted. The brooch is circular in section with two tightly coiled terminals at right angles to the plane of the loop. The terminals are set apart and the surface of the brooch is undecorated and slightly corroded. The pin is missing. Diameter 30mm, thickness 2mm, weight 2.66g. Roman copper alloy bow brooch . The brooch has undecorated open wings, one side is mostly present, the spring and pin are missing. The upper part of the bow is decorated with a raised chevron. The bow is D-shaped in section with a flat back and a rounded surface that is corroded but undecorated. The bow tapers and terminates into a rounded knop and there is no catch plate. A Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, Lower Severn Valley) type, c.f. Mackreth 2011, 2.b Plate 45. The brooch is T-shaped, the spring, pin and axis bar are missing. The fronts of the wings are decorated with three raised vertical ribs. The upper bow has a D shaped cross-section. Roman copper alloy headstud brooch.The object has damaged open wings which are now triangular in form, with a centrally placed loop above. The bow is sub-rectangular in section and is plain at the top. At its centre, where it curves, it has a raised circular protrusion and below this there are two rows of triangular enamel cells flanking two centrally placed rectangular ones. Early Medieval copper-alloy cruciform brooch fragment. Only the bow survives. This is sub-triangular in form with a ridge running longitudinally in the centre of the outer face and a transverse ridge, expanded slightly at either end, at the top where is ajoins the head. A small part of the flattened head plate remains, but most is missing. Simple cruciform brooches date to the 5th and 6th centuries AD (MacGregor and Bolick 1993, 95-6). Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of flat wing ends type. The brooch consists of plain circular sectioned wings with endcaps, which contain a spring of 10 coils. The bow sits on a characteristic sub-rectangular protrusion emerging from the wings. The bow is plain except for an unusual double linear incision running down the reverse.
