A fragment of Roman copper alloy headstud brooch dating to AD 75-200 (Mackreth type Headstud 5.).  The brooch is missing the foot of the bow, most of the catchplate and the top of the bow (it appears that the bow has broken across the centre line of the headstud).  The bow is decorated with the semi-circular curve of the remaining headstud.  Below this the centre of the front of the bow is decorated with cross-mouldings creating a lattice of cells down the centre with with half cells along either side and an incised line along the outer edge.  The central cells…
