A copper alloy folding candle holder dating to c14th century. In overview, the candle holder comprises a cup for the candle and a stem with a pivoting spike at the bottom. It is unusually made completely of sheet metal. The cup is made from a single sheet with a lapped joint which creates a tapered cup. There is no base to the cup. There are two rivets on the cup on the opposite side to the wrapped edges of the cup. The top rivet attaches to a sheet of metal which then wraps round the back of the stem. In overview, the candle holder comprises a cup for the candle, a stem with a tab handle which folds out from between the two sheets of the stem, and a cast spike with slotted lug at the bottom. The cup is made from a single sheet of copper alloy which is wrapped to create a tapering cup. There is a rivet at the top, on the opposite side to the wrapped edges of the cup.
