Possibly a Roman buckle pin probably dating to the period AD43-410. The top of the pin is curled over to create a loop. The shaft of the pin narrows to a point at the end (it appears to have been bent towards one side). There is saltire design on the loop (two joined saltires) with linear decoration following the curl of the loop and at the top of the shaft (three joined saltires) with two lines following the shape of the sides of the shaft.

A copper alloy possible Roman buckle plate dating to c AD 43-410 (although the form may suggest a medieval date). The buckle plate comprises a single sheet of copper ally folded in two with a slot cut out of the fold to hold the pin and the folder slightly wider to hold the pin attachment bar. At the open end of the plate there are two attachment loops pierced through both plates. The back of the buckle plate is undecorated except for two small notches at the end of the plate. A copper alloy buckle dating to cAD 300 - 400. The strap end is attached to the buckle but the pin is missing. The buckle comprises a single semi-circular loop which flattens on the side attached to the strap end. The loop is circular in section. The strap end comprises a single sheet of metal folded over the loop and with a slot in the centre for the pin. The strap end has two rivet holes at the end furthest from the loop, although the rivets are missing. A post medieval copper alloy buckle dating to the period c AD 1550-1650. The buckle is worn and there is evidence of corrosion along the pin bar. It comprises a double loop oval shape with moulded floral decoration on the loops and lobed knops at either end of the integral strap bar. The flower decoration comprises a central raised pellet with five pellets around, these may originally have been raised too but have been largely worn away. A post medieval copper alloy buckle dating to the period c AD 1500-1650. The buckle is complete. It comprises a double loop oval shape with a raised rib at either end of the strap bar. The loops narrow towards the spindle and are bevelled so that they slope downwards towards the outer edge of the frame. The spindle is slightly recessed from the front edge of the frame. A copper alloy medieval or post medieval double loop oval buckle dating to the period AD c1350-1650. The buckle frame comprises two ovals which are bevelled on the inside and outside edges. The strap bar is narrowed and slightly recessed. There are notches extending across the frame on both sides for the pin. The wire pin is wrapped round the strap bar and tapers to a point. A copper alloy post medieval shoe or knee buckle dating to the period AD c1660-1720. The buckle comprises a cast copper alloy trapezoidal shaped frame which measures 21.04mm and has been drilled to fit a separate spindle. The pin is corroded in place as is the plate, which is incomplete and missing the stud chape.
