A silver seal matrix made by Hester Bateman and dating to the period 1760-1790 depicting the and crest of the Blachford family. The seal matrix is oval in shape with a shield of three fess wavy gules, three pheons azure to chief with a swan above and trailing leaves and flowers on either side of the shield. The swan is shown emerging from a coronet which is not part of the design but an ornament added by the engraver for design purposes The seal matrix is attached to the circular base of handle which rises to an oval base curving up at the ends and with a raised line in the centre…
