A post medieval silver seal matrix dating to AD 1796-1797. The seal matrix is damaged and is missing the loop at the back for holding the matrix. The seal matrix is oval and depicts a sheep walking right. There is an incised line around the edge of the face. On the back the front plate steps inwards to an oval plate with the maker's mark around it and in the centre a raised round section which narrows and then extends transversely to created the curvilinear holding loop. A silver seal matrix made by Hester Bateman and dating to the period 1760-1790 depicting the and crest of the Blachford family. The seal matrix is oval in shape with a shield of three fess wavy gules, three pheons azure to chief with a swan above and trailing leaves and flowers on either side of the shield. The swan is shown emerging from a coronet which is not part of the design but an ornament added by the engraver for design purposes The seal matrix is attached to the circular base of handle which rises to an oval base curving up at the ends and with a raised line in the centre…
