A Post Medieval silver gilt finger ring dating from 1500 - 1700 AD. The band is rectangular in section and has a join just before the 'TO'. The outer face is decorated with beaded borders, each flanked by raised lines. The plain band in the centre is inscribed: " + DYE x TO x LIVE * " in seriffed capital letters. On the inside of the hoop is a maker's mark which is a recessed square containing letters in relief. These may be interpreted as an R back to back with a reversed R (‘ЯR’). The ring weighs 4.28g. A silver gilt late medieval to early post-medieval 'iconographic' finger ring. The band is complete with a bi-faceted bezel. The band is largely D-shaped in cross section measuring 1.58mm in depth and 4.26mm in width at its narrowest point. The bezel is triangular in cross-section, creating two facets which are decorated with engraved, hatched triangles. The shoulders of the hoop are engraved with a chevron above three perpendicular lines.
