A medieval silver sovereign type penny of Henry VII minted in Durham for Bishop Richard Fox and dating to AD 1494-1501. The coin is worn, clipped and pierced through the top of the shield from the reverse. The obverse depicts the king enthroned and holding an orb and sceptre. The reverse depicts a royal shield over a long cross which divides the legend, there is R D by the shield. North, JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Volume 2, Spink & Son, London, p 103, no 1731. The coin weighs 0.61g and has a diameter of 16.06mm.
