A silver halfgroat of James I dating to the period AD 1613-1615. I D G ROSA SINE SPINA obverse depicting a rose with a small crown above. TVEATVR VNITA DEVS reverse depicting a thistle with a small crown above. Initial mark is a cinqufoil and this together with the smaller outer petals of the obverse rose are indicative of the second coinage (AD 1604-1619). North 2105/1 (North, JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Volume 2, Spink & Son, London).
