A Scottish silver eightpenny groat of James VI of Scotland, prior to accession to the English Throne, dating to AD 1583-1603. The obverse depicts a crowned shield with a lion rampant facing left surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The reverse depicts a crowned thistle surrounded by a beaded inner circle.
