ABEL ON LVNDE reverse depicting a voided short cross with four pellets in each quarter. Moneyer Abel. Mint of London. North 976/1 (North, JJ, 1980, English Hammered Coinage Volume 1, Spink & Son, London p 180, no 976/1).

A silver medieval voided short cross cut halfpenny of John dating to the period AD 1207-1210 (probably Class 5c). Obverse depicts the lower parts of the bust, two hair curls with pellets on the right, an almond shaped eye with hole in the centre, a beard comprising lines with a central pellet and the sceptre hand separates the R and E. Reverse depicts a voided short cross with quatrefoil in each quarter. Mint of London. North 971 (North JJ, 1980, English Hammered Coinage Volume 1, Spink & Son Ltd, London).
