A post-medieval silver halfgroat of James I, dating to the period AD 1603-1604 (First Coinage). I D G ROSA SINE SPINA obverse depicting crowned bust (First bust) facing right with II behind the head. No legend on reverse which depicts a square shield with initial mark above (possibly a thistle). Mint of London. The coin is bent and has a hole pierced close to the top at approximately 11 o'clock. North 2076 (North, JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Vol 2, Spink & Son, London, p 144, no 2076).

North 2103 (North, JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Vol 2, Spink & Son, London p 146, no 2103).
