A medieval or post medieval lead token dating to c AD 1400-1700.  This lead token was found with WILT-1AEC06 and may be dated similarly to the fifteenth century.  The token is uniface and is decorated with a linear design with four pellets on short lines perpendicular to the central line and a plain back.  The design may be a truncated anchor.  Powell Type 5.  Cf Fletcher, 2005, p 61.   Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date.

A medieval lead token dating to c AD 1200-1500.  The token is uniface and is decorated with a linear cross with a pellet in each angle and a plain back.  The decoration is reminiscent of the reverse of a long cross penny.  Powell Type 14.  Cf Fletcher, 2005, pp 40-41.   Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date. Tokens of Powell's type 14 are thought to imitate Medieval pennies, and may therefore be of the same date.

These tokens are not closely datable.The obverse has a radiate bust in relief, facing right, which may be copying the head on a Roman radiate coin.  Behind the bust is a raised cross-hatched background.  The obverse is Powell type 10. The reverse is a raised squared geometric pattern in a quartered design of four segments with chevrons radiating out to the edge of the token in each quarter.

A Roman lead steelyard weight, dating to the period c. AD 43-410. The weight is circular in cross section and bi-conical in plan. At its apex there is evidence of an iron suspension loop which is missing. The steelyard is greyish cream in colour with orangey brown patches and two orangey brown corrosion marks at the top from the suspension loop. The steelyard weight weighs 158g and measures 46.71mm in height and 45.19mm in diameter.

A medieval lead spindle whorl dating to c AD 1100-1500. The spindle whorl is biconical and truncated at each point. It appears to be well worn and is chipped around the central hole and has a large gash across one side. There is a central hole 11.64mm in diameter. The spindle whorl is decorated on one side with two concentric rings of raised pellets (c 11 in the outer ring and c 7 in the inner ring). The other side is decorated with 11 radiating raised ribs with a pellet between each pair. The spindle whorl weighs 41.09g and measures 29.02mm in diameter and is 12.72mm thick.

The seal is incomplete and comprises a single bent disc with a section extending out of it which would have created the loop or join to the second disc. The face of the seal depicts a bust of the monarch (possibly Anne) facing right with the legend OF ENG:LAND around it and a circle of pellets surrounding the design. A post medieval Post Office lead bag seal from AD c 1660-1700. It measures 20.13mm in diameter and c.5.38mm in thickness, weighing 9.81g. There are perforations at opposite sides of the seal where it has been cramped onto a cord which passed throught the centre of the seal. The obverse depicts a crown above G POS above possibly a rose. The reverse is difficult to identify but may depict one or more shields. This seal would have been used to secure the contents of mail bags or sacks.

A Roman lead pot mend dating to the period c. AD 43-410. The pot mend comprises a roughly circular outer plate of lead and a smaller, irregularly shaped inner plate joined by a central lead plug which would have filled the hole in the vessel. The outer circular section has a piece missing and scratch marks next to it, possibly from modern damage. The plate has a flat central section which has an incised line close to a slightly raised rim. The inner plate has a rough surface. Between the two lead plates, there are traces of ceramic, probably Black Burnished ware.

Probably a medieval or post-medieval lead weight dating to the period c AD 1200-1700. The weight is a misshapen lozenge with the top point extending upwads to form a rounded end which is pierced with a hole. The weight is convex on both sides and may have been moulded in two halves and fixed together as there is possible evidence of a seam along the side. A lead pan weight probably medieval dating to the period c AD1100-1500. The weight is circular in plan with sloping sides. Through the centre there is evidence of an iron loop. The weight is decorated with a raised rim. On the top of the weight is a raised saltire which continues in raised ridges down the sides of the weight. On the top of the weight, there are other raised ridges which appear to be random and may have been intended as a circular decoration. A cast lead cloth seal dating to the period AD1500-1950. The cloth seal comprises two discs of lead which may have been joined and folded over to create a single disc. There is a short tab extending from the disc and between the two discs are two iron wires which extend out of the tab. One side of the disc is smoother than the other. The seal is damaged and any markings on the seal are indecipherable. The cloth seal weighs 9.1g and measures 32.85mm in length, 19.80mm in width and 4.20mm in depth.

A Roman lead steelyard weight dating to the period AD43-410. The weight is biconical and there are marks at each of the pointed ends of the iron bar passing through that probably formed a hanging loop at one end. In the middle of the widest part of the weight is a hole with a sub-square brown mark round it - which may have been an alternative hanging mechanism.

An incomplete late medieval lead pilgrim's ampulla (holy water flask) dating to the period AD 1350-1530. The ampulla is incomplete as the neck is missing. All that remains is the rounded body of the ampulla which has been flattened. The cast marks along the edges are visible. The flattening of the ampulla means that the decoration is not very clear but it appears to have scallop shell decoration (the symbol of pilgrimage) on one side and there appears to have been a decorative motif on the other side. The back of the weight is rough. The front is smooth with a cross roughly engraved into the front of the weight. The weight is 37.05mm wide, 40.90mm high and 4.92mm thick. The loop is 14.93mm in width and 11.01mm in height. It weighs 47.58g.

At the top the lead is folded over and there is evidence of iron corrosion. The weight weighs 48.36g. It is 36.57mm long and 20.17mm wide.

A circular lead weight possibly dating to the medieval period. The underside is smooth apart from a rough, circular indentation measuring about 10mm in diameter. On the upper surface, there is a raised cross surrounded by a raised circle just inside the rim. The lead weight is 30.45mm in diameter and 7.83mm thick, it weighs 52.45g.

A Roman lead steelyard weight with an iron attachment loop in its apex. The weight is incomplete but appears to have originally been conical in shape with a flat top where the loop attaches. It weighs 35.07gm and measures 26.32mm maximum width (15.51mm minimum width/thickness) and 34.34mm in height. The loop measures 20.31mm in height and 12.60mm in width. The lead has become white in colour and the iron loop has evidence of corrosion.
