A fragment of Roman copper alloy headstud brooch dating to AD 75-200 (Mackreth type Headstud 5.).  The brooch is missing the foot of the bow, most of the catchplate and the top of the bow (it appears that the bow has broken across the centre line of the headstud).  The bow is decorated with the semi-circular curve of the remaining headstud.  Below this the centre of the front of the bow is decorated with cross-mouldings creating a lattice of cells down the centre with with half cells along either side and an incised line along the outer edge.  The central cells…

A Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch dating to c AD 335-400.  Mackreth CD H 12.c. An incomplete Roman copper alloy headstud brooch dating to c AD 75-200. cf. Mackreth Headstud Type 1.gb. An incomplete medieval copper alloy single loop buckle dating to c AD 1250-1400.  The buckle is trapezoidal in shape and is decorated with three lobed knops on the outer edges and centre of the front of the frame.  The central knop is larger and decorated with incised lines flaring out from the central pin rest.  At the opposite end there is evidence of the depressed markings created by the pin on the strap bar.  The pin is now missing. A Roman copper alloy plate brooch dating to c AD 43-200.  Mackreth PL CONT no. 25. An incomplete Roman copper alloy Polden Hill brooch dating to AD 75-175.  Mackreth's CD PH 5.b.1. A medieval silver sesino of Galeazzo and Bernabo Visconti, Lords of Milan (1354-1378), issue without marks dating after AD1355, mint: Milan (Lombardy, Italy). Ref: Day et al 2016: p.449, pl. 35 nos 614-17. Approximately a quarter of the outer rim of the coin is missing, broken along the lineof the inner circle.  obverse: B G VICECOM[ITES];  'Visconti snake' (biscia) eating 'Saracen'.  reverse: MEDIOLANVM depicting a cross.  The coin appears to have been pierced, once directly through the centre, with a second, smaller hole just below.
