A copper alloy Nuremberg 'rose and orb' jetton of Hans Schultes I dating to AD 1553-1584. Obverse depicts three crowns alternately with three lis around a central 6-petalled rose and with the legend HANS SCHVTES:[ ]. Reverse depicts an imperial orb surmounted by a cross pattee within an usual tressure as there is only a single arch over the cross and three pairs of annulets around the tressure. A copper alloy Nuremberg 'rose and orb' jetton probably of Hans Schultes I dating to AD 1553-1584. Obverse depicts three crowns alternately with three lis around a central 6-petalled rose and with the legend HANS SCHVTES:[NOYP]. Reverse depicts an imperial orb surmounted by a cross pattee within an usual tressure as there is only a single arch over the cross and no additional decoration around the tressure. A copper alloy 'Lion of Saint Mark' early Nuremberg jetton dating to AD 1480-1490. Flemish lion rampant left with tail raised obverse with fictitious legend. Reverse depicts four fleurs de lis in a lozenge with a fictitious legend BIBIE BIBIE. This is probably a prototype jetton as those with 'Rampant lion' devices were struck fromth e fourteenth centuryonwards and occur in numerous varieties (Mitchiner p 352). Reverse depicting an imperial orb surmounted by a cross patty, within a tressure with three main arches and three pairs of pellets around the tressure. Obverse type depicting three crowns topped with annulets alternately with three lis arranged centrifugally around a central rose. Uncertain inital mark.
