A pointed oval Medieval copper alloy seal matrix dating to the period AD c1200-1400. The seal matrix has an integral lug at the top of the back and a ridge running along its length. In the centre of the seal matrix is a depiction of the Paschal Lamb and a flag within a pointed oval groove delineating the device from the inscription. The inscription around the edge reads + S' IOhIS: CISSOnIS* (Seal of John Sissons). Sissons is derived from son of Ciss, i.e. Cicely.
The seal matrix is 31.53mm in length, the width is 19.87mm, the maximum thickness is 8.50mm. It weighs 8.65g.
