A copper-alloy lug for attaching a handle to a metal vessel. The loop at the top of the lug is a tear-drop shape in plan. The loop has a circular hole and is D-shaped in section. Short arms project from either side of the stem beneath the loop. The stem is oval in section and is broken. Perforated lugs of this form served to attach handles to vessels such as chafing dishes (for examples, see Lewis 1973: 61). The suggested date is 15th to 16th century.
