A medieval iron barrel padlock case of Goodall's Type D (in Biddle, 1990), with a hinged shackle. The spring and bolt are missing. Barrel padlocks with shackles (Type D) were intended to secure human or animal limbs (Goodall 1990 p.1001). Examples from Winchester date from the late 10th to early 15th century. The case is cylindrical and c 46.53mm in diameter. A post medieval copper alloy 'dandy' button dating to c AD 1700-1800. The button is missing its attachment loop. The button comprises a disc measuring 45.67mm in diameter and 1.49mm in thickness. The front of the button is decorated with a floral design (possibly acanthus) with a branch of foliage along one edge and above this a flower with five petals each comprising a long loop with a line across at one end and beneath a row of curls (the decoration perhaps intended to give a slightly racy impression). The brooch is incomplete and is missing the top of the brooch which curled forward to create the attachment for the bar holding the pin, which is also missing. A copper alloy medieval or post medieval double loop oval buckle dating to the period AD c1350-1650. The buckle frame comprises two ovals which are bevelled on the inside and outside edges. The strap bar is narrowed and slightly recessed. There are notches extending across the frame on both sides for the pin. The wire pin is wrapped round the strap bar and tapers to a point. An incomplete copper alloy unidentified object consisting of hook of uncertain date. The hook comprises a circular strand of copper alloy which has been curved at one end to form a deep hook with a flattened section next to the point, which curves out slightly. At the other end the hook has been flattened and splays outwards as well as curving convexly away from the hook. The end of the flattened section is incomplete and there is an uneven break which appears to be at the point of a perforation through the hook.

A copper alloy buckle plate dating to the period c AD 1250-1400. The buckle plate is incomplete as the loops to contain the buckle are missing. The buckle plate is rectangular in shape with the incomplete buckle bar loops indented at one short end and two rivet holes with the remnants of iron nails at the other end. The plate is decorated with raised relief and the design appears to be of a mythological beast or bird. The back of the plate is undecorated. The patina is a mid green with the raised relief a reddish brown. There is evidence of iron corrosion close to the rivet holes.
