A small bodysherd of a Medieval vessel dating to c. AD 1100-1500.  The fabric is a hard fired, rough and sandy with abundant translucent grey/white sandy quartz inclusions.  The outer surface is a buff colour and smooth with a row of vertical rouletted lines (and possibly a second row just visible).  The inner surface is a darker buff colour with some patches of darker grey and is rough and gritty.  The core is a darker unoxidised grey. The object may be a clothing or belt hook in the shape of a zoomorphic fish possibly in Oseberg style. The object has a curvilinear outline. At one end, there is a bifurcated tail with one half of the tail curving round with a hole in the centre, this hole was probably an attachment loop. The hanger at the top of the mount comprises a lozengiform strip of copper alloy with the corners at each of the long sides of the front cut to angle the front. The fragment consists of a narrow strip of copper alloy, plano-convex in cross-section, and truncated by an old break at one end and a flaring, fan-shaped terminal at the other. The strap fitting was originally in two parts but all that remains is the hook and the other half which formed the eye is missing. The strap end is sub-rectangualr in plan with convex sides, the attachment end is transversely split with two rivet holes (one incomplete); one containing iron corrosion products. A copper alloy possible horse harness ring of Bronze Age to Roman date (c. 1500 BC - AD 410). The ring measures 16.76mm in diameter (internal diameter 8.76mm), is 4.31mm thick and weighs 4.21 grams. It is circular in shape. The interior surface is smooth and shows evidence of wear. The ring is copper alloy with a high tin content giving the ring a silvery appearance. A medieval copper alloy figurative mount in the shape of a fleur de lis dating to c AD 1270-1450. The mount is complete and has two rivets which are both in place, although not complete. The front of the mount is in the shape of a fleur de lis with apertures within the curls of the side petals. The back of the mount is undecorated although there are concavities where the rivets were inserted through. The patina is dark green. The mount weighs 0.67g and measures 15.29mm in length, 9.81mm in width and 2.3mm in thickness. Cf Egan and Pritchard 1991, fig 126, p 201, no 1084.

The back of the mount is undecorated but has a central pin. The mount is undecorated but there appears to be evidence of tinning on the front. The patina is dark green on the front and a lighter green on the back.
